FASHION IS MY PASSION

So I've been so busy working, working, working that there hasn't been much time for creativity. I promised myself that this summer would be spent reinventing/ reconstructing/ redesigning my wardrobe....I've accomplished NOTHING! I told myself that I would sew at least 3 times a week and had gotten off to a good start (mainly because I took a sewing class through May and June) but that didn't last.

I'm feeling a bit discouraged and non-productive. I really need a good kick in the ass. So kick me someone!...FAST! PLEASE!!!

Aside from this minor fall back I do have a lot of really great plans for the near future and hope that my ideas will turn out as great as I think they can. I'll be sure to post my creations once I've finally take the much needed time to create them.

Also, my room is a mess and I REALLY don't want to clean it.

MONTREAL JAZZ FESTIVAL

I'm posting a video from the Montreal Jazz Festival starring the lovely Terri Oliver (vocalist).

Terri came into Fashion Crimes a few weeks ago and I had the opportunity to style her for this event. Look at how incredible she looks owning the stage in that navy blue Oscar dress. Navy is definitely the new black. (:

I had an appointment with her again today to style her for her up and coming gig here in Toronto. I can't wait to get my hands on a few snapshots to share with you.

She's such a doll to work with and really knows how to rock what she wears. <<<<3

Be sure to check her out at www.myspace.com/terrioliver

HEARTLESS

I'm really not a huge fan of The Fray. To be quite honest I don't pay much attention to them at all. But after coming across their cover of Kanye's song 'Heartless' (Thanks Sue!) I must say I am quite impressed. It's a really great cover. Pretty mellow in comparison to the original, but it still rocks a good kick.

Let's be honest whether you like Top 40s hip hop or not Kanye hit the nail on the head with 'Heartless'. It's a great fucking song!!!

So there's the original cover by The Fray which isn't nearly as upbeat as the 'Heartless (In A Bottle)' remix. This is a remix of The Fray covering Kanye West featuring Black Eyed Peas, Police and 2Pac. I've posted both videos. CHECK 'EM OUT!!!!

MY DATE WITH THE "CELEBRITY BLOGGER"

So, I wasn't going to say anything but I've decided it has to be done. I won't drop any names because that is just plain rude. SOOOOooo, I went on a date...with a so called celebrity blogger...and NO! He wasn't gay. (For some reason I get asked that A LOT). Straight boys gossip too, ladies!

Well anyway, we meet through a friend and of course I'm the least bit interested because he is the furthest thing from my type. He's your typical Abercrombie and Fitch kind of dude that thinks he's the hottest thing since Bob Dylan. Which really doesn't make sense considering A & F was an unfortunate phase that took over 75% of my generation for a short while and was quickly dropped for good reason.

To continue, boy is texting me off the hook for the next few days and my thoughts on this are 'not my type, but nice... perhaps we could be friends?!'. Boy asks me out and is persistent in saying that I should give him a chance and that he is very different than who I think he may be. So what do I do? I give boy a chance.

And guess what?! He was right, he was so different than who I thought he was...He turned out to be a lunatic. (Okay, maybe that's a LITTLE harsh)

So we go on one (typical) date and the next day he's pissed because I've made plans to hang out with another boy. Not once did he ask me who this boy was to me and for all he knew this other boy was my second cousin- Not that it mattered because even after first date with the blogger I still hadn't taken the slightest bit of an interest in him.

To cut a long story short I received a string of nasty text messages for the next two days implying things that should have never been implied, especially not after ONE date. And to put a little red cherry on that cupcake he linked to his Twitter a blog posting on his site that stated how girls don't know what they want...TWICE!

I ended up getting an apology from him, but somehow the conversation was ended on not so positive terms. I guess I didn't respond the way he hoped I would.

Point of this blog post, guys accuse girls of being crazy all the time and it's not fair because guess what?! Some of YOU (boys) are crazy too! And quite frankly I don't think that term should be thrown around at all because nine times out of ten when a girl is "breaking dishes" it's usually for good reason...I did say USUALLY now, boys. There are always exceptions to be made.

Also, I find it funny how many-many-many guys want to be able to do what they want, date around, hook up with whoever they want in the 'dating' period of the relationship, but yet they want their "potentials" to stay loyal to them. I really don't understand that at all. I'm left bothered and confused.

And as my final thought, how come in the early stages of the game boys have no problem telling you how they feel, or that they have future plans to take you on vacation or that they want you meet their family back home but the minute any of those feelings are exchanged on your part they freak out and slowly but surely begin to blow you off?
They lay it on thick and once they've realized that they've convinced you they RUN!

Just another small mystery to me that I'm sure won't ever be solved.

Where's Nancy Drew when you need her?!

INKED

I went camera crazy on my new tat and feel the need to share some pics, as in one pic. :)

Artist- India Amara @ www.indiaamara.com

The idea came from a typical temporary tattoo design, although India definitely made it her own. I had a completely different picture in my head when her and I first discussed the piece and so she worked on the artwork and on the day of she presented to me what she came up with. I have to admit I was second guessing myself at first but because I trust her work and her opinion so very much so I HAD to get 'er done! Kind of ironic to say, but I literally have a temporary tattoo permanently tattooed on the inside of my bicep. AND I love, love, love IT! Let me know what you think.

I have plans for a few more over the course of this next year but will have to wait patiently while I save up.

TIP OF THE DAY: It's never a good idea to go cheap on something that will remain on your body for the rest of your life.

xoxo.

MMVA DRAMA, mama!!

So yesterday was the Much Music Video Awards (MMVA's) which pretty much meant that this past weekend was insanity at Fashion Crimes. Everyone searching to find the perfect look to strut their stuff down to Queen Street West for the celebrity party. And of course, not to forget, the celebs who were looking to dress to impress for the red carpet and all their fans.

I had the opportunity to meet a lot of really cool people this past week which is a simple reminder of how much I LOOOOOVE my job. Another reason as to why I love my job is getting to work one on one with clients and to help style them head-to-toe for awesome events like the MMVAaaaa's. Friday, Tara Mason came into the store and I hooked her up with an incredible look to shock the MMVA fashion runway. (see video posted below :)))) !!!!!)

Let me know what you think about this look!?! COMMENT. COMMENT. COMMENT.

Another thing you must love about video awards and having a million and twelve celebrities roaming around your city (ED WESTWICK...'clear throat') is the AFTER PARRRRRTYYYYY.

So many places to go, so many people to see. What to do??? Well, I can tell you what NOT to do...Go to Circa...Why do I say this? Because I did it. Yup, that's right, of all the after parties to choose from Nancy and I chose to go to Circa, and for no good reason. It was awful.

$15 to get in....Not that we paid thanks to a little thing called the guest list... Skank bartenders to under pour your over priced drinks and a room full of pretentious individuals.

I'm so over spending money to drink in an over crowded (or even worse, under crowded -ie. last night) room to be judged by a bunch of phony 'hipsters' that know absolutely nothing about me or anything they pretend to be interested in. I'd much rather spend my money on material things like my new eagle head ring made of crystals and gunmetal (picture posted above). It's probably the coolest piece of jewelry to ever exist on this planet.

If anything, last night was an excuse to shop for a cute new outfit and I'd like to think that Nancy and I rocked our looks with or without a good time.

'Til next time, lovers.
